I never had much of a problem with back or shoulder pain until I began working as a Labor and Delivery nurse a year and a half ago. I tried my best to maintain good posture during the 12 hour shifts of bending, leaning, pulling, pushing, crouching, and standing. However, the long hours and hard work gradually began taking its toll. I started to notice painful knots in my neck and shoulders and, despite many attempts at massage therapy, the pain never went away. I knew a number of experienced nurses who complained of pain and discomfort due to the wear-and-tear effect that nursing has on the body, some of them requiring surgery to correct. But it surprised me that I was already feeling those aches and pains so early in my career. I looked to my coworkers for help and two of them recommended Alamo Heights Chiropractic. They both spoke highly of Dr. Carrell-Tremblay, so I quickly scheduled an appointment.

I came to my first appointment nervous and a little skeptical, but the friendly staff and calm atmosphere of the office immediately dissolved my anxiety. I had my first adjustment and knew that this was the answer to my prayers. The relief I felt was indescribable. I became “addicted to crack” as Dr. Brad would say. I kept up with my appointments and after only five months my pain is practically gone. I can work an entire 12 hour shift without any discomfort-a feat I would have thought impossible before I became a part of the AHC family.

My favorite part about my experience is that I didn’t find a quick fix but a new way of life. The stretches and exercises I have learned allow me to continue my care at home and at work. The knowledge I have gained is invaluable in teaching me the importance of proper alignment and the living a healthy lifestyle. I love that AHC does not promote dependency but rather enables and encourages me to take action in my own healthcare. I can’t thank them enough for all that they have done and continue to do.
